Board of Directors
The Directors of the Construction Association of Bermuda are appointed at the AGM in November of each year, with the
Executive Officers appointed by the Board. The current Executive and Board Members are:
President: Mr. John Andrew Pereira
J. Andrew Pereira was elected President of the CAOB in 2009. He has served
on the Board of Directors since 2002 and as Vice President from 2005-2009.
Andy is a Joint Managing Director of D&J Construction Co. Ltd.
Joining the construction industry in 1980, Andy has progressed upwards
through various positions in the D&J Group of Companies. He has a Bachelor
of Science degree in Business Management from Merrimack College in Andover,
Massachusetts, USA. His years of industry experience and formal management
training made him a key part to the continued success of D&J Construction.
Among his responsibilities as President of the CAOB, Andy takes a keen
interest in its scholarship program through fundraising to promote a carrier
in fast and always changing industry. He is interested in the continued
success of working with its members and Government to strengthen it position
as the leading construction body in Bermuda.
In addition to his role as President of the CAOB, Andy also sits on the
National Training Board, Devonshire Industries Board and Saltus Grammar
School Board of Trustees.
Vice President: Mr. Charles Dunstan
A member of the Board of Directors since 2007, Charles was recently elected Vice President by his fellow Directors. Charles is a Managing Director for Kaissa Limited, a specialty subcontracting firm focussed on roofing, exterior finish systems and scaffolding.
Charles received his Bachelor of Business Administration from Acadia University in 1985. He has been in the construction industry for the past 18 years, all with the same firm. During that time he has studied Construction Management and Quantity Surveying through the College of Estate Management, Reading, UK.
Over the past few years, Charles has been involved with Marketing and employment initiatives. He has contributed to the growth of the Association Newsletter, as well as assisting with the formation of the Back to Work Program in conjunction with the Bda Housing Corporations’ Hustle Truck Program.
Charles is a Past Commodore of the Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club, and an active member of the Bermuda Bicycling Association.
Secretary/Treasurer: Mr. Paul Martin
Initially elected to the CAOB in 2006, Paul Martin was later elected
to the role of Treasurer in 2007. Presently Paul is the Vice
President, and General Manager of Island Glass Ltd.
Paul acquired his Bachelor of Arts in economics from Trent University
in Peterborough, Canada in 1983, and went on to join the Society of
Management Accounts of Nova Scotia in 1994 becoming a Certified
Management Accountant. Fusing these elements with 12 years of
construction experience, Paul has an in-depth understanding of business
principles in relation to the construction industry.
Pivotal in helping determine the board's agenda for each year, Paul
lends his attention to each project undertaken by the board
determining financial planning and objects. Ardent in the pursuit to
garner funds for the CAOB scholarship charity, Paul chairs the Members
Annual Benefit BBQ Committee.
While acting as Treasurer for the CAOB, Paul also the Secretary/Treasurer
for the Bermuda Employers Council, is also the past President for the Society
of Management Accountants of Bermuda.
